Michiel de Jong
Michiel was born in Leiden in 1970 and studied at Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Arnhem and
Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in Rotterdam.
His first publication was in 1986 in the comic-magazine Briknazarr. In 1988 het started publishing cartoons in the magazine
Striptuur. He cooperated in advertisement campains for Fuji casettetapes and Bayer and is inspired by the Atoomstijl giants
like Yves Chaland, André Franquin, Serge Clerc and Joost Swarte.
In 1995 he was nominated for the HR&Onderscheiding for his study performance "Multiple Sores"
and he got the PTT Post encouragement price for is mini-album "Ode aan Wilhelm" in 2000.
